The Great Bluey Birthday Bash!

“Mommy, can I have a Bluey party?”

Cue the happy tears (mine, not hers). I was equally excited and… slightly terrified. I wanted her day to be perfect—fun, colorful, and bursting with the same joy Bluey brings into our living room every morning. But let’s be real—birthday parties can get expensive fast. And mama wasn’t about to spend big-screen budget on a backyard bash.

So, I grabbed my coffee, put on my DIY hat, and started planning a Bluey party that was magical, memorable, and (mostly) mess-free. Here’s how it all went down—what I loved, what I’d totally do again, and where you can save your sanity (and your budget).

Why a Bluey Party Is Always a Win-Win

There’s a reason toddlers are head over heels for Bluey—and let’s be honest, it’s not just the little ones. A lot of us moms are totally hooked too (no shame, I’ve cried more than once during an episode). The show is downright adorable, packed with wholesome moments, and it’s got so much heart you can’t help but fall in love with it. Every episode feels like a warm hug wrapped in a giggle. And those themes? They’re always a home run. From sweet family moments and wild, imaginative play, to laugh-out-loud silliness and, of course, plenty of snack-time cameos—Bluey just gets it.

It captures real-life parenting chaos with a whole lot of love and a touch of magic.  A Bluey birthday party is like a warm hug in party form. It’s easy to personalize, super kid-friendly, and totally doable on a budget. If Pinterest has you spiraling and Etsy carts are making your wallet sweat, don’t worry—this party plan is here to help.

The Free Bluey Birthday Invitations We Made & Loved!

I went deep into the internet rabbit hole looking for Bluey invitations. At first, I figured it’d be easy. Fast-forward two hours, and I was comparing fonts like a wedding planner with a caffeine addiction. Just when I was about to drop $$$ on a custom design, I stumbled across adorable free editable Bluey invitations that I could tweak myself. It was like finding treasure—except the kind that doesn’t require a shipping fee.

We chose a design with Bluey and Bingo jumping for joy (basically the party mood I was going for). Amanda helped me stuff the invites into colorful envelopes and insisted on drawing tiny paw prints on the back. Were they Pinterest-perfect? No. Did they scream joy and childhood magic? Absolutely. And just like that—it felt real. We had a date, we had a theme, and Bluey was (figuratively) on her way!

And honestly, sending out those invitations made the whole thing start to feel REAL. The party was happening! Bluey was coming (in spirit)! And now it was time to make our house feel like the set of an episode.

  1. Scroll up and click the blue “Edit Template” button.
  2. Customize it—add your child’s name, party details, change fonts, and sprinkle some magic!
  3. When done, go to File > Download > PNG (best quality).
  4. Print them at home or send to a local print shop!

B. How to Print the file?

“Steps for printing our templates”

  1. Save the image to your computer.
  2. Double-click to open it with Windows Photo Viewer.
  3. Hit “Print” at the top.
  4. Choose your color printer.
  5. Play with sizing options like “Fit picture to frame.”

Speaking of party invitation, we avoid to see anything basic, especially when it comes to birthday celebration. By unusual, I mean something that isn’t typical Floral or Disney theme, but rather something like what’s in this page or maybe you want to see other themes like  Bluey And Friends and Cute Sunshine Blueythemed birthday invitation templates.

Turning Our Living Room Into Bluey’s Backyard

With the invites sent and excitement bubbling over (from the kids and me), it was officially time to transform our very normal, very lived-in home into a full-blown Bluey wonderland. You know the kind—crayon marks on the wall, toys under the couch, and laundry I swear I just folded yesterday. But hey, magic can happen anywhere, right? Especially when you’re armed with some creativity, a glue gun, and a whole lot of heart.

Our living room quickly became party central. We draped blue and orange streamers across the ceiling, tied balloons to every chair, and taped up Bluey, Bingo, and Muffin cutouts like we were casting for a live-action episode. I even DIY’d a little “Heeler House” corner using a cardboard box, markers, and a lot of imagination. And oh—our pièce de résistance? A giant poster of Bluey hanging right above the fireplace like it was a sacred family portrait.

My husband said it felt like Bluey was silently judging him as he tried to frost cupcakes. Honestly? She probably was. But the real moment of magic? When Amanda walked into the room, gasped like it was Cinderella’s castle, spun around in awe, and shouted, “Mommy, it’s like Bluey’s real house!” I’m not saying I cried again, but… okay, fine, I totally cried again. (Blaming it on the helium.)

The Great Cake Catastrophe

Ah yes, the cake. The holy grail of birthday parties. Let’s just say this chapter could be called “A Tale of Two Cake Disasters.” I started out with big dreams—a homemade vanilla sponge with fluffy buttercream and a cute Bluey topper. What I got was a lopsided situation that looked more like a sad pancake in costume. Round two was a bit better, and Amanda sweetly told me, “Bluey looks a little funny, but I love her anyway.” And that’s when I knew: nailed it.

I also got a little crafty in the kitchen and made the cutest paw print cookies ever. I used a heart-shaped cookie cutter for the big center pad and then added three or four little circles on top for the toes—super simple, but they turned out so adorable. Honestly, they looked like something straight out of a Pinterest board… except way easier and way more forgiving if you accidentally make a slightly wonky paw (which totally adds to the charm, right?).

They came out ridiculously cute, and I may or may not have eaten six before the party even started. Oops. At the end of the day, the kids didn’t care about perfect piping or pristine edges. They cared about sugar. And love. And that messy, homemade, full-of-heart cake was absolutely perfect to them. With bellies full of cake and hearts full of happiness, we moved right into party game time — where the real chaos began!

Let the Games Begin

Now, what’s a party without games? And what’s a toddler party without at least one moment of total chaos? (Spoiler: there were several.) We kicked things off with “Keepy Uppy,” a Bluey fan favorite. The kids had a blast trying to keep their balloons in the air—screaming, giggling, and full-on flopping to the ground like little cartoon characters. At one point, my husband dove across the floor to save a balloon and got a round of applause from the preschool crowd. He’s still bragging about it.

The Bluey Coloring Station.

Then we set up a coloring station with free Bluey coloring sheets I printed at home. I called it the “Art Corner,” but the kids turned it into a full-blown Bluey gallery. There were wild rainbow Bingos, sparkly Muffins, and even a few abstract masterpieces that I proudly hung on the fridge the next day. Honestly, I think Amanda spent more time there than anywhere else—head down, tongue out, concentrating on coloring Bluey’s tail just right.

At first, I wasn’t totally sure how the coloring station would go over. I mean, kids can be wild cards—one minute they’re bouncing off the walls, the next they’re deeply invested in peeling stickers off the furniture. So yeah, I worried they might not be into it. But let me tell you—those kids loved it. Like, full-on, laser-focused, tongue-sticking-out-while-they-color kind of love. They all gathered around the table with their little markers and crayons, and it was the cutest thing watching them dive into their creations. Some went full Picasso with perfectly shaded Blueys, while others went wild with imagination—hot pink Bingo dogs, rainbow tails, glitter everywhere.

Final Thoughts From One Tired (but Happy) Mom

Looking back, did everything go perfectly? Not even close. The balloons deflated before guests arrived. The cake leaned a little too far to the left. And at one point, the dog almost ran off with a paw cookie. But none of that mattered. What mattered was the joy in Amanda’s eyes.

The way her friends squealed with excitement when they saw the decorations. The giggles during “Keepy Uppy,” the frosting-smeared cheeks, the pure, unfiltered happiness of kids being kids. I wanted her day to be colorful, playful, and full of Bluey-style joy—and girl, we pulled it off. Not with a giant budget or fancy vendors, but with heart, a hot glue gun, and a whole lotta love.

So if you’re thinking about throwing your own Bluey bash, just know this: you don’t need to be a party planning pro. You just need a little creativity, a lot of patience, and maybe a second cup of coffee. Because in the end? Bluey would be proud.
