My DIY Rose And Peony Baby Shower

“How I Planned the Prettiest Baby Shower Ever”

When I was planning my baby shower, I had this dream of a beautiful, flower-filled celebration that felt elegant, cozy, and unforgettable. You know, something straight out of one of those Pinterest boards you save at 2 a.m. But let’s be real—my budget wasn’t exactly Pinterest-worthy. Still, with some creativity (and a LOT of coffee), I managed to pull off a Rose and Peony-themed shower that made me—and my guests—feel like royalty.

Now, grab a cup of tea (or, you know, something stronger if you’ve been juggling party prep for a while), because I’ve got a story to share with you! Whether you’re the one hosting your own baby shower or you’re helping out a friend, I promise these tips, tricks, and yes, even those free invitation templates I’ve been raving about, will make your whole planning process so much smoother—and way more fun. Trust me, I’ve been through it all, from brainstorming the theme to finally finding the perfect party favor, and I’m here to pass on the wisdom (and the laughs) so you can avoid all the little stressors and just focus on enjoying the ride.

How I Turned Four Walls into a Garden Party Dream

I’ll admit, my first attempt at decorating was…let’s call it “abstract.” I thought throwing some flowers on the table and calling it a day would do the trick. Spoiler: it didn’t. But don’t worry, I figured it out eventually, and now I have all the secrets to create a space that’s as dreamy as a celebrity baby shower (but way more affordable).

Whether you’re working with a cozy living room or a sunlit backyard, the trick is layering your decorations. Hang floral garlands, scatter faux rose petals on the table, and use pastel pink tablecloths for that soft, romantic vibe. Oh, and let’s not forget the balloons—because what’s a party without them? Pro tip: Gold and blush pink balloons add a touch of elegance without breaking the bank.

When I threw my shower, I used DIY floral arrangements (thank you, dollar store!) and placed them in mason jars. It gave the space that charming, Pinterest-worthy look. And if you’re lucky enough to host outdoors, string up some fairy lights for an extra magical touch.

“The Prettiest Invitations (And They’re Free!)”

Let me tell you, finding the perfect invitations was a journey—a long one, full of browsing, decision fatigue, and maybe a little bit of a panic attack (okay, maybe that was just me). I wanted invitations that captured the essence of the romantic Rose and Peony theme I had in mind, but I didn’t want to drop a small fortune on something that would probably end up in a drawer after the party. You know, the ones that cost as much as a bouquet from a fancy florist, minus the smell of fresh flowers. I mean, seriously, who has the budget for that kind of extravagance when there’s a baby shower to plan?

The design was perfect—watercolor roses and peonies with soft, blush pink accents. It was like they were made just for me. I customized them with all the details of my shower, printed them out on nice cardstock, and boom—instant elegance. When my friends got their invites, they couldn’t believe I hadn’t paid a fortune for them. One of them even asked, “Where did you order these?!” I just smiled and said, “Oh, I designed them myself.” (Okay, maybe I left out the part about how the templates did all the heavy lifting for me.)

Speaking of birthday parties, we avoid to see anything basic, especially when it comes to children’s birthdays. By unusual, I mean something that isn’t typical Floral theme, but rather something like what’s in this page or something like these,  Sweet Baby Girl Rose and Elegant Camellia & Rose baby shower/birthday invitation templates.

The Cake (AKA the Star of the Show)

Oh, the cake. This was one of my favorite parts of planning the shower, mostly because it involved a lot of “taste testing.” I wanted something that felt elegant but didn’t cost more than my monthly grocery bill. So, I ordered a simple white cake and dressed it up with fresh flowers to match the Rose and Peony theme.

It turned out so beautiful that I almost didn’t want to cut into it. Almost. My guests were obsessed, and I may or may not have taken 50 photos of it before we served it. If you’re more of a DIY queen, you can try baking your own cake and decorating it with edible flowers or a pretty topper. I attempted this once for a friend’s shower, and while it wasn’t exactly bakery-level, it had a lot of heart (and a LOT of frosting).

The Sweetest Party Favors

Finally, I couldn’t let my guests leave without a little token of appreciation to thank them for celebrating such a special day with me. I wanted something thoughtful, meaningful, and in line with the floral theme we’d been embracing throughout the shower. After some brainstorming (and a good amount of scrolling through Pinterest for inspiration), I stumbled upon the cutest idea—mini succulents in tiny pots. I mean, how perfect is that?

These little plants were not only adorable but also symbolic, representing growth, life, and nurturing—all the things we were celebrating that day. I found them at a local nursery, carefully choosing ones that looked vibrant and healthy. Once I got them home, I added a personal touch by tying little tags around each pot with twine. The tags read, “Thank you for helping my little one bloom,” which, let’s be honest, might’ve made me tear up a little as I wrote them out. (Okay, a lot. Pregnancy hormones, anyone?)

Making Memories That Last Forever

Looking back, my Rose and Peony baby shower was everything I dreamed of and more. It wasn’t just about the decorations or the cake (though those were pretty amazing); it was about celebrating this special chapter of my life with the people I love.

If you’re planning your own shower, remember this: It doesn’t have to be perfect to be magical. Add your own personal touches, embrace the chaos, and enjoy every moment. And don’t forget to grab those free invitation templates—they’ll save you time, money, and stress!
